Carolina Health Specialists Clinical Research Department is a full time, multi-specialty research department that conducts Phase II, III, and IV trials. We are dedicated to providing patients the opportunity to participate in clinical trials, many of which offer new medications to treat a variety of conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis and Diabetes. We are committed to providing up to date and promising new treatments for patients.
Primary Investigators
Dr. Douglas Conaway is Board Certified in Rheumatology. He is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at University of Oregon. He completed his Fellowship in Rheumatology at Temple University, Philadelphia in 1985. He has 27 years of experience in conducting clinical trials as Primary Investigator.
Dr. Donald Eagerton is Board Certified in Endocrinology. He is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He completed his Fellowship in Endocrinology at MUSC in 1994. He has 10 years of experience in conducting clinical trials as Primary Investigator.
Dr. Javaid Wani is Board Certified in Endocrinology. He is a graduate of Spartan Health Sciences University in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia and completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Woodhull Medical Health Center (New York University) in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Study Coordinators
Alison Riley, RN, CCRC- Clinical Research Director
She is a graduate of Lenox Hill Hospital School of Nursing and is certified in clinical trial coordination through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. She has 13 years experience in coordinating clinical trials.
Judy Hammond, RN, BSN – Study Coordinator
She is a graduate of the University of Virginia. She has 4 years experience in coordinating clinical trials.
